An Italian Wedding14 August, 2010

So, we haven’t posted in a looooooooong time.

Well, we got engaged, then married, then went on holiday, and now we’re back. Needless to say, as much as we love you guys, posting up here was kind of far from our minds for the past few months—if you’ve ever been married, you know exactly what I mean, and if you haven’t, well ask somebody who’s planned a wedding and you’ll get an idea of the craziness that takes place when two people decide to get hitched.

Wedding

But the wedding was lovely. We got married in Italy, in a sleepy little town not too far from Rome. The ceremony was small and intimate, and (most of) the people we love were able to make it. The reception was perfect and the food was amazing. Here’s a quick run-down of the menu:

Antipasti Bar

Primi

Lemon Ravioli with ricotta cheese in a light tomato sauce

Hand rolled pasta with wild mushroom sauce

Secondi

Rabbit Cacciatore

Guinea Fowl with juniper berries

Sides

Torinese roast potatoes with goose fat and juniper berries

Leafy garden salad

Dessert

Ricotta-Orange Cake, Chocolate Torte, and Walnut Cake

Our wedding cake was s three-tiered berry and lemon curd tart, which although slightly unconventional, but absolutely delicious. All of the dishes were served family style— each course paired with a perfect wine.

The restaurant where the reception was held is in the basement of a gorgeous little hamlet tucked away in what once was a medieval castle.

I would do the whole thing again in a heartbeat. Or not. People, let me tell you: weddings are exhausting.  So, R. and I have both agreed:  hopefully it’ll have been our first and our last wedding (cue chorus of awwwwwwwws).

xo, and more soon
